5 Ways To Protect Gmail Account
In addition to everything that Google takes to protect your account, there are steps that you should take over to be safer. These 5 ways can help you to protect your account:
1.Enable two-step verification
All that hacker needs to access your Gmail Account is your password, and the hacker can find it with the help of phishing sites or if you display it in public. Google has solved this problem by providing two-step verification where Google sends SMS message to your phone with a special code that you should enter as the second part when you access to your account.
2.Create a strategy for a password
When you choose a password, there are two things you should know. First, choose a password that is unique to your Gmail account and the password you don’t use it for other services. When you choose a password, check in program Password Meter, how strong it is.
3.Keep your browser and operating system up to date
Companies are pushing new updates to prevent the known attacks, so it is especially important to regularly update your system and the browser you are using.
4.Update your recovery options
Access your Gmail account and go to “Settings” (top right)> “Accounts and Import” > “Change password recovery options”. There you can add an email address, phone number or a security question to be able to restore your account in case that the hacker has changed your password.
5.Check account activity
There is a possibility that someone else is accessing your account without your knowledge. To check this, go to the end of the page. You will see the line that says “Last account activity…”. If you find an activity that is unfamiliar to you, immediately change your password and security question, and enable two-step verification.
