It seems Apple will face the class-action lawsuit in the U.S because of the ‘error 53’ issue on iPhone 6. The issue appears after the replacement of the Touch ID home button by an unauthorized technician. The lawyers of PCVA are inviting the iPhone users who faced this issue to contact them, as it’s said by The Guardian.

Replacing Touch ID Home Button On iPhone 6 By Unauthorized Technician Will End With Error 53

Apple tries to force the users to use their authorized service which charges more. This violates the consumer protection laws in the U.S.

“We believe Apple may be intentionally forcing users to use their repair services, which cost much more than most third-party repair shops. There is incentive for Apple to keep end users from finding alternative methods to fix their products”

The UK barrister, Richard Colbey even said that Apple can be sued.

“It is hard to see how something which ceases to work in this way could be said to be of reasonable quality, one of the determinants of which is durability. The law states: ‘A person who without lawful excuse destroys or damages any property belonging to another intending to destroy or damage any such property or being reckless as to whether any such property would be destroyed or damaged shall be guilty of an offense.”

Previously, Apple warned the users not to replace the Touch ID home button, except through the AppleCare or the Apple authorized service provider. If the user insists on replacing it via another service shop, they will find that their iPhone cannot be used or restored.
