The idea of this app is to restrict someone else to access certain apps on your smartphone. When you access this app for the first time, you will be asked to create a passcode PIN or pattern to lock the Hexlock and the application you want to restrict. Next, by default, Hexlock will provide two profiles: work and home and each can be configured differently.

You can add the other profile with a different and unique icon for a different configuration. For example, if you borrow your smartphone or tablet to your kid, you can activate a profile with “child” label, and your kid will not be able to access the certain apps.

Hexlock is easy to use. On the profile that you are going to configure, just tap the app you want to lock and tap it again to cancel it. If you have configured the profile, tap the hexagonal profile icon on the main page to activate it. Once it’s activated, certain apps that you have chosen can only be accessed by using the same PIN that we made in the beginning. To deactivate, on the main page, scroll to the left of the profile and tap the padlock icon.

The interesting feature in this app is its capability to detect your home or office WiFi, so the certain profile will be activated automatically. This feature can help you if you forget to switch the profile when you come back to your home from the office. You can activate this feature on Auto Activate in Settings. The “Set Up Auto Activate” will appear in every profile, and tap it to choose the WiFi that you want to set automatically.
