Currently, the research of Lithium Ion technology for the next gen battery keeps on continuing. The research focuses on the battery capacity, quick charge, its size and physical condition. These three things are the most critical for a device, especially a mobile device. At the same time, Huawei proves the Lithium Ion battery charges 10 times faster. This is a hidden capability of the Lithium Ion technology.
Huawei makes a Lithium Ion battery with a new configuration that allows it to be charged 10 times faster than current batteries. Huawei demonstrated a 3000mAh battery could be charged to 68 percent in two minutes, in a presentation video on the 56th Battery Symposium in Japan last week.
“bonded heteroatoms to the molecule of graphite in anode, which could be a catalyst for the capture and transmission of lithium through carbon bonds,” Huawei explained. “The heteroatoms increase the charging speed of batteries without decreasing energy density or battery life.”
This invention can be utilized for a mobile device battery, wearable device, and even a vehicle that needs a quick charge process. Huawei doesn’t explain whether the battery is ready to be produced for their devices and third party vendors or not.
