If You Used Jay-Z’s Music Service It’s Possible You Just Lost Some Money

One of the biggest mistakes of this fiscal year, Tidal has charged former subscribers for another month of premium service, even if they canceled their membership long time ago.

There are many streaming services that offer a good audio content quality. But few of them are proud to showcase a catalog of uncompressed HiFi content, perfect for audiophiles. Tidal is one of them, and the price of 20 dollars per month is the extent of this service. Although many people have experienced the platform in the past, few remained subscribers. In addition, the unfortunate event from a few days back is likely to further alienate the people who have ever been subscribed.

If you woke up with a $20 withdrawal from your debit card by Tidal, do not worry because you are not the only one. The employees of several online publications who tested the streaming service after its initial release noted their membership became active after paying the subscription for another month without any intervention on their part. Although Tidal offers a $10 standard audio quality plan too, all who were mistakenly overcharged paid the premium subscription amount.

Mostly, in a relatively short time, the money were returned to the accounts of those affected. To make up for their mistake, the service operators reactivated the accounts of all past subscribers for a period of three months. Chris Welch from The Verge noted that although he didn’t benefit from any plan, his membership which was previously canceled, was now set to automatically renew after three months. In other words, this situation was subject to repeat after three months.

Fortunately, Tidal has recently announced through Engadget that they made the necessary changes, and besides returning the illegally extracted funds to the accounts of the former subscribers, the subscription plan will no longer renew after the three months bonus expires.
