The iMac with 5K has been released last year, and it needs one year for its sibling iMac 21-inch – to get the same display upgrade. Today, Apple released iMac 21 inch 4K display and upgraded all iMac 27 series display to 5K. This is the Apple’s way to transition all of their products to use retina display. However, iMac 21-inch non 4K will still be sold by Apple. It will put it in a low spec category and probably will be the last iMac 12-inch series.

The whole design of new iMac 21-inch and 27-inch has not been changed since 2012, the difference is only the internal hardware and the display, which adopt the retina. The new iMac 21 inch 4K display uses 3.1 GHz processor Quad-core Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz). The processor is the 5th gen processor from Intel, while the 6th gen is used on iMac 27-inch. The iMac 21 inch 4K has 8Gb on-board memory, which cannot be upgraded manually, and 1TB of HDD. When it comes to graphic, it doesn’t have a dedicated GPU card, but it counts on Intel Iris Pro Graphic 6200. iMac 21-inch4K is priced $1,499 and you can check the complete specifications of iMac 21 inch 4K and 27-inch 4K here.
