If you live outside of the U.S., don’t worry Instagram live video will soon be rolled out to everyone.
The live video feature is not the same as the live video on Facebook. The difference is the video you stream on Instagram disappears after the broadcast ends.
“Live video on Instagram Stories helps you connect with your friends and followers right now. When you’re done, your live story disappears from the app so you can feel more comfortable sharing anything, anytime.”, Instagram said in its blog post.
Starting a live video on Instagram is very simple. Just swipe right from feed, open the camera and tap “Start live video”. You can go live for up to an hour. Also, your followers may get a notification that you are going live so they can watch the video you are streaming. When the broadcast ends, the video will disappear.

When someone is streaming a live video, you will see it in the Stories section as “Live” will be written under the profile photo. You can like and comment the video during the broadcast. If you are subscribed to the posts of someone you follow and if you enabled post notifications, you won’t miss the live video the user is streaming. To see even more live videos, tap Explore, and then tap Top Live.
