Mandy Patinkin visited the Greek Island of Lesbos where he helped refugees come ashore.
Patinkin traveled with IRC to Greece, as soon as he wrapped shooting fifth season of Homeland.
In the video posted on the International Rescue Committee’s Facebook page, you can see Homeland star on the beach waiting for the boat to arrive, and then helping the refugees land on Lesbos.
“I just don’t get it, how people let this happen to people,” the actor said.
“Then I don’t get how when wonderful people like the people in Greece are bringing these people here and helping them.”
“How people in different countries all over the world can be frightened of people who suffered so much, who are so in need, who are so desperately asking to just have freedom, justice and dignity. Just give them a welcome and let them into your home,” Patinkin added.
For more on Patinkin’s perspective on the refugee crisis you can read the article he wrote for the Washington Post.
