Meizu To Release The Fastest Ubuntu Smartphone

Meizu has officially introduced the latest Ubuntu smartphone through teaser image. They didn’t hide it

Meizu has officially introduced the latest Ubuntu smartphone through teaser image. They didn’t hide it and it seems it will not become a surprise for MWC event on February 22, 2016. Meizu is one of the brands that support the Ubuntu platform since last year when they released Meizu MX4 series, which has Ubuntu OS for smartphone inside.

Previously, Meizu was rumored to launch the Ubuntu-powered smartphone with high specification. That rumor said they will make a clone of Meizu Pro 5, their current flagship smartphone. Regarding the specification, they will still use the Exynos 7420 processor from Samsung. It’s a 64bit Octa core processor with 14nm manufacture and has 4 core Cortex A57 @ 2.1GHz and 4 core Cortex A53 @1.5GHz and GPU MALI T760.

Meizu To Release The Fastest Ubuntu Smartphone

Last year, Meizu Pro 5 was in the first place as the best Geekbench score for multicore test defeats Galaxy Note 5, which uses the same processor.

When it comes to memory, Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu version will have 3GB of RAM with 32GB internal memory and a microSD slot. The device will have a 5.7-inch display size and AMOLED full HD resolution 1080p. For the rear camera, it has 21.16 megapixel and 5-megapixel for its front facing camera.

All we have seen in Meizu Pro 5 Android version will be the same for the Ubuntu version, except the OS. There is no information available for the price yet. It seems it will be announced on February 22, in MWC Barcelona. Meizu Pro 5 will join the other Ubuntu devices as the fastest Ubuntu smartphone at this time.
