Panasonic is a Japanese multinational electronics corporation and its well-known for their rugged line of products, which is resistant toward the extreme environments. Today, Panasonic announced their new rugged line detachable laptop called the Panasonic Toughbook 20. This is the first rugged detachable laptop in the world. The display size is 10.1″ WUXGA, multitouch with the brightness up to 800 nit. As the detachable laptop, the Toughbook 20 offers six different usage modes that include: a traditional laptop layout, tablet mode, flipped mode (screen flipped out with keyboard attached), a carry mode (the device comes with a built-in handle), convertible mode and a vehicle mode.

With 3.9 pounds of weight, Toughbook is designed to be used in tough environments. It also has some features related to endurance toward tough situations. In terms of ruggedness, “The Toughbook 20 is designed to meet MIL- STD-461F for electromagnetic interference and MIL-STD-810G for drop, shock, vibration, explosive atmosphere, temperature, humidity, rain and sand, as well as waterproof and dustproof ingress (IP65). The device features a magnesium alloy case, fanless design, locking port covers, raised bezel, Solid State Drive (SSD) heater and a built-in handle for ease of use, which also serves as a kickstand for desktop stability and enables use while hung.”

The Toughbook 20 is powered by the 6th generation Intel Core vPro processor, 128GB SSD, 8GB of RAM, and a choice of Windows 10 Pro or Windows 7 Professional. The Panasonic Toughbook 20 will be available for purchase in early 2016 with a starting price of $3,099.
