One of the most useful features of Skype is that you can send and receive files through this great software. This guide will show you how to send and receive files in Skype.

If you want to know how to send a file through the conversation in chat, follow these instructions:

Sign into Skype.

In the list of “Contacts” select the desired contact or conversation participants to which you want to send the file to.

Click on “Send File” (the icon in the form of the sheet of the paper) at the bottom of the window and locate and select the file you want to send. If you want to send the multiple files, hold down the Ctrl key when selecting and click on “Open”.

The recipient must click “Save” button if he wants to receive the file.

There is another way to send a file. Open the list of contacts, right-click on the contact and select “Send Files”.

When someone tries to send you a file, a message appears in the chat window.

To receive a file:

Click the “Save as”.

Choose where you want to save the file.

Save the file in the correct folder, you can either open it by clicking the “Open file” or open the folder where it was saved (click “Show in folder”).

If you have the latest version of Skype, you can check the option “Automatically accept incoming files”, and you can also choose the folder in which the files you receive will be stored in. To do this, click on “Tools”, and from the drop down menu click on “Options”. Next, click on IM & SMS. There, check the above-mentioned option “Automatically accept incoming files”, which is located at the bottom. Choose the folder in which the files will be stored in by selecting “Save all files to: – and clicking on “Change folder”. Find the folder you want, click OK, and then click Save. When you do this, all the files your contacts send you will be automatically accepted and will be stored in the folder you’ve selected.
