The Video Shows 3D Touch Can Be Enabled On Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

The 3D Touch technology is on fire right now. This new user interface can be found on iPhone 6s and 6s plus and it gives the new experience to interact with the device with its features, such as peek and pop. These features can be actualized with 3D touch, in which the first pressure allows you to preview content (peek) and a deeper pressure to choose that content (pop). Of course the implementation will vary, like the one you saw on the video that we shared.

This 3D Touch is only used on the iPhone 6s and 6s plus. Even though we know that Synaptic   one of the biggest manufacturers of Touch Sensor – presented the “3D Touch” looks alike. It will be applied on the Android smartphones by next year. However, there’s an interesting video uploaded by a developer, Marco Chiapetta on YouTube, shows 3D Touch can be enabled on Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, which was inspired by a post on a forum. Marco uses a barometer on this smartphone to recognize the pressure sensitivity on its display. This is a possible thing to do because Xperia Z3 Compact is a waterproof smartphone, wherein all ports has been sealed. When you push on the screen, there’s an increase in the internal air pressure of the phone, measurable with the barometer. What an interesting invention, isn’t? He wrote about this invention:

“Just a quick-n-dirty proof of concept of how it is possible to use the device’s barometer to simulate Apple’s “force touch” interaction. There are two major problems: all the flaps (I have a Z3 compact) have to be sealed for the pressure to change when pressing the screen and since the flaps are not 100% sealed after a few seconds the pressure goes down even if you keep pressing on the screen (air goes out). Other than that it’s a pretty cool interaction.”

Here’s the video he shared via YouTube:
