With the invention of smartphones, man thought that there will be no need of anything else. The smartphone will take over the computer, and everything else. And it certainly has. But one thing that recently popped up in the brain, is, “What if we can build our own smartphone just like a computer?”. And this laid the foundation of Google Project Ara. They have been consistently trying to make it possible for people to purchase different components, and build their own custom smartphone, just like what we do with our custom build PC.
So far the project seems that it is highly possible. And with the latest release of their update, along with a teaser, we are simply curious about what are the things that will be possible. The best thing that we’ve heard till now, is that with the help of Google’s Project Ara, you can upgrade the camera of your custom build smartphone without even having to turn it off.
But we recently heard that our curiosity will be fed, because a working prototype of the Project Ara will be on display at the Ara developer’s conference this December. This will give us a complete idea about how this works, and what its possibilities are. Along with the working, we guess that it will be launched for the consumers possibly in March/April 2015.
The Basic Idea of Piecing Things
The foundation idea of the Project Ara, is that you should be able to build your own custom smartphone that is specifically tailored to your needs. To make this possible, there will be different modules designed that can be added or removed to add or subtract the functionality of your smartphone.
This will completely change the way we think about smartphone. So you want a high resolution camera to snap great pictures? Here, swap this module in, and you’re good to go. Want more RAM to get more multitasking juice? Add this module and restart your phone.
Google has mentioned that they will be launching a new online store specifically for purchasing new modules for Project Ara.
